The Alternative Corry (R.I.P)

Years and years ago I set up a website called The Alternative Corry. The idea was that fans (or otherwise) of the UK's longest running soap, Coronation Street, could submit their own, fictional story lines, and have them published on the site for other like-minded people to read and hopefully, derive some form of entertainment from. I gather that these days, this type of phenomenum is called "fan fiction". The site was more successful than I ever expected, in its first couple of years, even resulting in me being interviewed on a UK TV show about it (blush!).

In truth though, the only reason the site was set up was to give me a project which would teach me about HTML and the web (it being quite a new thing in those days). And the choice of Coronation Street and the whole fan fiction idea was so that I wouldn't have to go to the trouble of dreaming up interesting content. Others would do that.

Those of you that know the site will see that I learned very little about web site design! ;-) But the storylines were forthcoming, and some of them pretty good too.

But...all good things must come to an end. I lost interest in maintaining the site in 1999. So, let's make it official: The Alternative Corry is no more. C'est mort. It is an ex-website. I will leave the site as it currently is, in a state of suspended animation at:
